MCGILL AS WE ARE NOW
The Congregation
McGill has a steady membership with an average weekly attendance of one hundred. Our yearly attendance averages have been declining over the last decades and are working diligently to increase not only overall membership but also visitors and regular attendees. We have a diverse congregation but are heavily skewed towards an older population.

Our Services
McGill holds worship service every Sunday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Services each week are a blend of traditional and contemporary with the last Sunday of each month being a fully contemporary service. Services incorporate our music programs with new and traditional hymns. Children are involved in each service with a children’s moment as well as opening the service by ringing in the hour.
Our Weekly and Regularly Scheduled Activities
McGill has many regular activities on Sundays as well as midweek. We currently have five groups that meet each Sunday morning for Sunday school prior to our weekly service.

Children have their own craft and mission moments during our Sunday service. On Wednesdays children participate in “Mini Ministries” which provides them with a Bible story lesson, music lesson, crafts, and play time.

Our Youth meet each Sunday evening to enjoy a meal together, fellowship, and spiritual growth.

Adults are able to participate in regular Bible studies, the sanctuary bell choir, the sanctuary choir, and guitar ensemble, which all meet weekly.

The Senior Adults meet each month with the OWLs (Older Wiser Loving Seniors) group. They come together for fun, fellowship, spiritual growth, and to enjoy a meal together.

On the first Sunday of each month, the women of McGill meet for a Women’s Ministries meeting. They organize church and community outreach as well as social activities for McGill.
Our Buildings and Connected Ministries
McGill Baptist Church is located at 5300 Poplar Tent Road in Concord, North Carolina. Our current facility was built in 2000. McGill has many multi-purpose rooms available throughout the building for community use. We have often partnered with local groups and organizations (the Concord Wildlife Alliance, the local chapter of the Toastmasters, as well as local sororities) to provide them with meeting spaces.
We have a newly updated sound and video broadcast system to live-stream our services. There is a full kitchen and fellowship area that is used to prepare meals for the missions mentioned earlier. The building has security cameras as well as RFID locks to ensure the safety of the congregation and staff during the week.

Operation Christmas Child
Founded in 1970, the McGill Learning Center (MLC) is the oldest church affiliated daycare in Concord, North Carolina. The MLC is located beside our main church building and has an average enrollment of over 100 children from our surrounding community. We strive to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with our learning center in order to grow connections with potential new church families and to serve the children in their crucial developmental years.
On our church property, we also have a large organic garden that is tended and maintained through a partnership with the local YMCA. This provides learning and fellowship opportunities for church and community members in agriculture, while at the same time providing fresh produce donations to food pantries and surrounding community members in need.
Broader Connections
Although McGill Baptist Church is a member of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, we often pair with other religious denominations and affiliations to provide better opportunities for our church community. Our sanctuary bell choir participates each year in the regional handbell festival hosted by the Southern Baptist Convention. Our annual Youth retreat to the Hinton Retreat Center allows the youth to work closely with the opportunities provided by the United Methodist Church. We have also partnered with New Life Baptist Church to provide broader opportunities for joint Vacation Bible Schools.
