THE MINISTRY WE ARE SEEKING
We recognize there is much work to be done at McGill. However, we know that there is tremendous potential for growth and community involvement. We need a minister who has the confidence to innovate in a way that drives new growth. He/she needs to be able to collaborate with and motivate current (and future) ministry personnel and lay leadership. He/she needs to be able to teach us Biblical truths while making Christ real and applicable to our modern lives.
We recognize there is an aging population in our congregation that is not being replaced with growth in youth or young adults. Therefore, our new pastor needs to be able to appeal to the younger generation without alienating the older generation. He/she needs to be able to reach all ages and bridge this gap. We know that in order for our church to survive, we need someone that can appeal to the younger families and bring them into our congregation. We also know that a relationship with the surrounding community is crucial to our growth.
In doing this, it is important that they respect our tradition of inclusivity and compassion. He/she needs to believe all are truly welcome into our church and have the warmth and approachability to make everyone feel welcome. We have a few traditions that we would like honored but are open to new styles of preaching and developing new traditions. We, at McGill, have always been open to change when needed for the betterment of our church family as we discern the leadership of God
