Concord NC is situated on the periphery of the greater Charlotte metropolitan area. This is the third fastest growing area in the country with over 2.9 million residents in 2025. McGill Baptist is situated in an area of Concord which has 158,000 residents within a six mile radius of the church. This area is projected to grow 27 percent in the next 10 years.

Of the local residents, 48% are under 35 years of age with the median age being 36. Concord is a racially diverse community with a makeup of 52% White, 22% Black, and 13.5% Hispanic. 40% have bachelor degrees and 15% have a masters degree or higher. Other notable statistics include the 20% of the working population that work from home as well as that 31% of the households are non-family households. The median family income is $87,000.

Concord, NC and its surrounding areas boast a diverse business community including healthcare/research, logistics, banking, food and beverage , and advanced manufacturing. Some of the notable employers include Atrium Health, Amazon, West Rock Coffee, Eli Lilly, Corning, NC Research Campus, Wells Fargo and Bank Of America.

Education

Concord’s commitment to the future begins with education and its highly ranked public schools. The Cabarrus County school system ranks 9th out of 115 systems statewide. They finished 8th in 2024-2025 in grade level proficiency. 80% of all district schools met or exceeded their expected growth.

UNC-Charlotte is our exponentially growing local University. It is located only 15 minutes away from McGill. It has recently risen over 80 spots to the ranking of the 74th best research institution for 2026. UNC-Charlotte was also named the 38th most innovative University in the USA, both by US News and World Reports. The most common degrees are in Business, Computer and Information Science and Health Professions.

Recreation

Concord has a lot of recreation opportunities. We have several miles of greenway space for walking. There are numerous parks that include disc golf, soccer fields as well as tennis and pickleball courts. Boating and kayaking are available in nearby lakes and streams within 30 minutes of downtown. For those who love the Arts, Concord has its own Old Courthouse theatre group with numerous productions and performances throughout the year. For those seeking the big stage, Charlotte has an annual Broadway lights series at the Blumenthal theatre. For the sports fans, there are numerous well run recreation leagues for adults and youth. Professional sports lovers have the Carolina Panthers,Charlotte FC, Charlotte Hornets and The Charlotte Motor Speedway less than 25 minutes away
